Those of you who have looked for property in Grecia know that it is difficult to find…particularly in the mountains where the temperatures average 68 to 82 degrees ALL YEAR ROUND. This area, located in San Miguel de Grecia has gently rolling hills with two rivers, huge towering cypress trees, hundreds of fruit trees, and is located on a flyway for birds on which you will see hundreds of different species.   

 

The area of Grecia is known not only as the "cleanest town in all of Latin America", but also for its beauty and friendliness. It has a total population of approximately 50,000 although that is widely spread out. The downtown area is dominated by a huge red metal church which sits nearly in the center of town. Almost everything that you need can be found here, including a hospital and nearly all professional services of all kinds.  

 

The infrastructure in Grecia is superb. Water is pure and plentiful. The various utilities are excellent and it is rare that service is interrupted here, unlike even the more "upscale and affluent" areas of the Central Valley. The town is far enough away from San Jose and the airport to be peaceful and safe and yet is still convenient so that the better known shopping areas are less than a 45 minute drive. And of course, the Central Pacific beaches are only 90 minutes away.

This community is not for everyone. If you wish an active nightlife or wish to live on the beach… obviously … this is not for you. Grecia is a quiet coffee town that is just starting to receive the recognition it deserves for its beauty, friendliness and convenience. And this secure community is small and, because of its uniqueness, will most likely not be duplicated again.
