I have to admit that I do not have the most patience in the
world when it comes to home building…
Particularly when I am in the situation of “waiting” until
the home is complete… and I am living in a one
bedroom equivalent of a hotel room.
But…we are almost done. The lower level has been complete for a while
but the second bedroom and other area has been used for storage as
the upper level nears completion. Windows and Doors are now in as well
as the granite counter. Appliances are totally in and final coat of paint
was applied last week. And the furniture from downstairs will be
moved to upstairs THIS WEEK.
All that remains is odds and ends (railing on the balcony/terrace…
walkways, drainage, and additional terracing.
Rhonda has the patience of a saint and it has been a joy to watch
her reactions as her masterpiece has been assembled. She not only
has to put up with various idiosyncrasies of Costa Rican construction
but also listen to my whining about my temporary discomforts.
This will be our third home in Costa Rica. And it is the first one that
Rhonda has received no help whatsoever from the architect
(except for his rendering her plans into the format so that it will
pass in the College of Architecture).
Will it be our last? Who knows… except that this move was precipitated
by us simply not being able to put up with the increased traffic and
population in Grecia. Maybe this intolerance is part of my discomfort
with the “one room living” too… I don’t know. I have a hunch that we
may be here for a while. San Mateo seems to contain all the things
that seem right for us “now.”
International Living , mentioned in our last newsletter, mentioned
Grecia
in one of their “postcards” last week as being home to a great many expats.
We have now been here 8 years and still consider Grecia our “first home”
in Grecia and have sold well over 100 properties to expats still living here
(and some who have “moved back” as well). Grecia has now become
“the place to live” in the Central Valley and we are seeing many move
here from Escazu and Santa Ana (the former “places to be” in the
Central Valley).
Here are a couple of the best priced values in the Grecia area:
…A wooden cabina of two floors and about 1300 sq. feet. Balcony and
terraces on two sides and gorgeous woodwork throughout. Two bedrooms,
two baths, privacy… fruit trees, river at the bottom of a half acre
heavily wooded lot. In the mountains about 12 minutes from downtown
Grecia with gorgeous, “to kill for” views… $109,000…
One of the last “view lots” under $50,000 in Grecia. Private,
heavily treed, includes all utilities and great area. Acre and a quarter or
5000 sq. meters… only $45,000 we have been seeing half acre lots in
this area sell for $70,000 so this is a steal!
Our last postcard featured our “up and coming” Palo Seco property…
and has generated HUGE interest… which we never really expected.
It was more of a “watch for it” type of notification”. Those of you who
missed it… take a look at
The media page:
We are redoing the website and have started on a model of the casita.
There will be 20 properties and homes on the project… each will be what
most of you see in your “mind’s eye” as the ultimate Costa Rican
beach cottage. It is small… but it is designed for comfort… and for
beach living. Terra cotta roof and floor tiles, stucco walls, terrace,
tropical landscaping… and of course… one of the most gorgeous beaches
in all of Costa Rica. And all of this with a pool, rancho and security
(Did we mention that a world record snook was caught within a mile
of the property less than a year ago?… Oh, one more thing…
We are offering financing (ten years) with a relatively small amount down.
Take a look at the beach… the area… and our render of the cottage
which has already been started… if you have ever wanted a beach home
but thought that it was out of reach… and you wanted the best location…
this is it. It doesn’t get any better.
We anticipate these units going quickly. And we will not sell sight
unseen because we want to ensure that everyone sees the area
and knows precisely what they are buying. We honestly cannot imagine
anyone seeing these properties and NOT buying. Value… location…
oh, if you care… rental demand in the area is superb so investment
ROI is top notch.
Hurry.
No rain today. Earthquake last night.
Pura vida,
Randy , Rhonda and all of us at CR Home
